Media Control Mode

Media Control Mode gathers available media sessions into one panel. Use keyboard hints to control music, videos, and other media without switching to each player.

In Settings, open Media Control Mode and assign a command sequence or a dedicated keyboard shortcut to command.enterMediaControlMode. Trigger the command sequence from Command Mode, or use the shortcut to open the panel.

The panel shows the media title, artist or app name, artwork, and playback progress when the player provides them. If no media appears, start playback in an app that exposes its media session to macOS, then open the panel again.

Each available action has a hint. Type the hint shown beside the action to perform it for that media session. You can also click the controls.

Available media and supported actions depend on the player. For live media or media with an unknown duration, seeking and skipping by time are unavailable.

Type the hint beside the playback position to edit it. The field initially contains the current position. Replace it with one of these formats:

InputPosition
9090 seconds
12:1212 minutes and 12 seconds
1:02:031 hour, 2 minutes, and 3 seconds
20% or .220% of the media duration

Time components can also be separated by punctuation or spaces, such as 12.12 or 12 12. The requested position must be within the media duration.

Press Enter to confirm, or Esc to cancel editing.
