Resize Mac Windows with the Keyboard

Resize a window edge, corner, or proportion from the keyboard with Cursor Crane. Use this when you want a repeatable size without carefully dragging a narrow window border.

Steps

Section titled “Steps”
  1. Enter Adjust Mode with command.enterAdjustMode.
  2. Hold the Nine-Square Grid key for the window edge or corner you want to resize.
  3. Press number keys or direction keys to move that edge to a screen tick.

Hold the center Nine-Square Grid key instead to resize the window by a width or height ratio. Hold Shift while entering the second ratio number to apply it to the height.

What to check

Keep the pointer away from adjustable splitters or sliders when you want to target the active window. An app may enforce a minimum window size, so the result can be larger than the ratio you request.
