Copy Text from Mac Interface Elements Without Selecting It

Copy the text of a Mac interface element without dragging across its words. Cursor Crane collects text from the selected target, with an OCR fallback when the accessibility tree has no text.

Steps

Section titled “Steps”
  1. Open Element Menu Mode for the target element or window.
  2. Type the target’s hint, or hold Shift while typing to select multiple elements.
  3. Hold Space to open the menu, choose Copy > Copy Full Text, and press Enter .

Cursor Crane copies text collected from the selected element. If the accessibility tree has no text, the copy action can fall back to OCR.

What to check

Copy Full Text can return more text than the small passage you need, especially when you select a group or window. For a smaller portion, inspect the result with Element Burst; OCR text should be checked against the original.
