Select Text Between Brackets or Quotes with the Keyboard

Unlocked or active trial

Extend a selection to a matching bracket or quote without dragging across lines. Cursor Crane’s Input Mode recognizes paired characters while finding text in a supported field.

Steps

  1. Enter Input Mode and place the text cursor next to an opening brace, bracket, parenthesis, or quote.
  2. Open text find with Control + W and choose the matching character.
  3. Hold Shift while choosing the match to extend the selection to it.

Input Mode recognizes matching quotation marks as well as braces, brackets, and parentheses.

Pair matching is a text-navigation aid, not a programming-language parser. Check the selected range before copying or replacing it, especially when there are several similar delimiters.
